The Five Summer Critters to hate, bait and eradicate!

‘The sun is shining and the weather is good!’ (Bob Marly) We’re also hearing less about ‘the virus’, we’re allowed OUT, even permitted to allow people IN… into our homes, bring on the Saturday Night braai’s and kids running in the backyard. Even if we’re slowly well on the right course to getting the virus under control… the home pests need consistent and seasonal attention, especially if you’re wanting to be outdoors on the patio the early evenings and not shut up in doors trying to keep safe from the mosquitos and flies.

Here’s a list of the top five Summer critters to hate, bait and eradicate:

ANTS
These guys show up uninvited, by the dozens and faster than a ‘bless you’ after a sneeze. These pesky Summer season foragers are not just an annoyance, if left uncontrolled in the home to build their colonies and lay the eggs by the thousands can cause damage to structures. ROACHES
‘It’s all okay, until the cockroach flies!’ Nothing worse than a roach right? Wrong! Worse is the roach you missed and you now know it is in the room you’re in but out of sight. Be sure too, if you’ve seen one… there are more… probably many more! Did you know that a cockroachegg casing can contain between 16 - 50 eggs? True story! ‘So who gonna call?’ ‘We aint afraid of no roach!’

MOSQUITOS
They’re rife in Summer! Even if you walked the four corners of your garden and rid every bucked and bowl of water for oppertunist larvae to breed, without expert pest control you’ll not likely to win this battle. These pests lay eggs in the smallest catchment of water in plants, plus you can’t police your neighbours gardens, (can you?). A seasonal spraying will keep things under wraps and reward you with peaceful sleep (without the toxic smell) at night, at least for your household.

FLIES
These guys! Make a sandwich or start cooking dinner and these guys show up faster than a toddler who hears a chocolate wrapper! While flies do play an important role in nature in breaking down organic material, they are a nuisance and carry diseases which are harmful to your household, including your pets. FLEAS
